The Shrimp Shack

Seafood is fresh. Great fries. But all the fried food feels greasy. We drove 75 minutes to try out this place and even though we can tell the food is fresh, it's just not enough make us feel that it was worth the trip alone.

We went in September, and their season for fresh shrimp was over already. I should’ve known this before I took a drive up here for fresh shrimp, but that was my fault. So if you are looking for fresh shrimp, make sure they have it, which runs around May through August!We ordered a shrimp popcorn and a shrimp burger. The shrimp popcorn was probably the best shrimp popcorn we had at any restaurant. Also, the shrimp burger was on a different level - their patty was literally a clump of shrimps, and you can see this in my photo. Fries were also a bomb. I need to come again for their fresh shrimp.Tips: Come during fresh shrimp season

We looked forward to stopping by the shrimp shack all weekend while we were camping at the state park nearby. Didn't let a 30 minute wait ruin our meal, but some other customers decided not to wait that long. I had the blue crab burger and my girlfriend got the oyster burger. I loved mine, but she said she probably would have rather had some fresh shrimp. We both liked the fries though, and will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

The Shrimp Shack was an enjoyable restaurant to experience. It's unpretentious and homey. The portion sizes are nice. The Popcorn Shrimp with the fries are excellent. The Blue Crab burger was okay -- I don't agree with other people's positive reviews. The Clam Chowder is pleasant, but I wish it had more clams. I ordered the 16 oz, and it's a nice size. The service is topnotch. Very friendly and accommodating.

One of my Soldiers recommended the Shrimp Shack, and I'm absolutely glad they did. The owners are really nice, down-to-earth people that work hard to provide a great atmosphere and even better food. I had the colossal fried prawns, and they were colossally delicious. The fries were super crispy, and the food hit the spot.The establishment is very supportive of the military, and even the customers showed us a lot of love while we were there.

Always wanted to stop by this place. My daughter and I stopped by finally, after hearing my mom and dad suggest it for years. Glad we did! Ordered the Fish and Chips and the Shack Burger. Really good. The fish was kind of bland, but the tartar sauce and lemon made it taste great, really crispy! Burger was huge. The whole lunch was way too much for 2 people! Huge portions. The French fries are amazing! My mom raves about the size of the shrimp, so next time I'll try that too! Service-wonderful!

The Oyster Burger is worth a try.

The large Shrimp Shack sign drew us in from the highway. Long queue made it look promising. Tried the shrimp burger with fries. A little bit of a wait, they seemed busy. Fries were fresh. Burger was a shrimp patty with tartar sauce. I thought it would be large whole butterflied shrimp, rather than a ground patty. Tasty nonetheless.

Had really delicious BIG fried shrimp 🍤juicy FRESH oysters and fries. Not greasy, just delicious fried bites that are special treats to indulge once in a while. Hubby had the fried Alaskan cod and was crunchy and lightly bartered. Last order was about at 6:40 even though it closes at 7pm. There were some disappointed faces for those who arrived close to 7.

Great popcorn shrimp. The breading was perfect and the shrimp fresh. Heard this place was great and I confirm it is. Yum😁

First time. Here from FL. I got the #7 taco's grilled. Delish and plentiful. Hubs got the fish plate. Must stop by. Nice outdoor picnic tables.

We’ve eaten here twice while visiting and both times the food was yummy, the order 100% correct and promptly served. I’d give it a 5 but I’m not a fan of outside dining along a noisy road and I definitely don’t like port-a-potties. We will go back this visit and each time we are here!

I've only had they fish and chips and they are delicious!! Just what you would expect from some good fish and chips, greasy, good batter and delicious fries. When you get there (it's right on the corner before entering deception state park) can't miss it as there's usually a line. The are two lines, fresh seafood and grill options. Clam chowder is also good. Outdoor seating only. Well maintained garden. One portion is blocked off for alcoholic beverages and one prohibited. Plenty of shade. Good parking. Some parking around the shack itself and more by the fire department. Very good prices.

If your need a deep fried seafood fix. Look no further this place is legit what you need. You can never go wrong with halibut and chips. If you're into oysters this place definitely does them right. The pop corn shrimp are also a favorite. After May 1st each year they sell fresh local shrimp by the pound. FYI. Enjoy!

The food here is absolutely amazing. I got the blue crab burger, and my wife got the shrimp burger. We expected to get meat that had been grinded and made into a patty, but we were wrong. My crab burger had real pieces of crab...yes, legs were poking out of the side of my bun. My wife's burger was whole shrimp cooked together. And the taste was absolutely brilliant. The fries were amazingly good, also. This is a definite must go!

The food is amazing and the fish & chips are melt in your mouth good. The calamari is delicious. However you have got to get the hushpuppies with tartar sauce.

Went off season. Day trip. Big menu to choose from had to try the Shrimp Burger. Very greasy and over cooked. Friend had Blue Crab Burger. Fantastic!! The chowder is ok, but didn't taste clams. I've only been there once so I don't know if it was just an off day. Will probably go back and try again, but not on a day trip.

Colossal shrimp are indeed colossal, tender, in beer batter, and are worth getting here. Popcorn shrimp are nearly the size of regular shrimp you would get at a restaurant, but are ordinary like you would get at any fast food restaurant serving deep-fried shrimp. Deep-fried clams also were nothing special. The clam chowder (white) is uniquely theirs and fresh - try it! Just don't get it in the bread bowl unless you are OK with getting a small 4 ounce a.k.a. 1/2 cup of their chowder. A bowl (not bread bowl) of it could be a great meal for one person. That bread is good, but not at the expense of a smaller helping of their chowder.We wish we would have passed on the battered fries and gone with the salad option instead.Note you can get bags of shrimp there.Order taker/server was nice. Bottom line: stick with their fresh-made chowder and colossal beer-battered shrimp and you'll give them a "5".

They have the. best. chowder. Bacon, carrots, lots of clam, and you can tell they use the clam liquor which in my opinion is the hallmark of a proper chowder. It was just as good as what I make at home, but it didn't take me two hours of steaming the clams in wine, chopping veg, frying lardons, and putting everything together to simmer. Really good.We came down from Oak Harbor to try it out. They looked super busy, which usually means that the oil will have gone cold from all the food dropping, so everything would be super saturated, but the fries were super crispy, the pollock had a light crispy breading on it, and the clam strips were huge and tender. My only slight complaints are the crab cake on the burger was a little overdone and the fish needed some seasoning, but like I said they were crazy busy so I really can't fault them. We came during the Covid lockdown. They were doing window service, and seemed to be taking the proper precautions otherwise. Thank you guys so much!

You can buy boiled shrimp by the pound, very tasty. They also have a grill with lots of options. I have the fish sandwich and my sister the fried oyster. They were both very good.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips. We had the cod, clams and the colossal shrimp. Super light batter not "bready" very flavorful and the shrimp had tons of flavor. Expect long lines during weekends but its totally worth the wait!

Two of us shared Fish n' Chips, Popcorn Shrimp and a Pint. Delicious food and great service. Wait times weren't bad either, even with a full house.

SO delicious! The fresh caught halibut fish and chips was heavenly. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. Definitely eat here.

Stopped over here after checking out Deception Pass and it's park. Nice selection of food to choose from st reasonable prices. I decided to have the jumbo shrimp which had 6 pieces and the Fish and chips which was halibut. Both really good!! The fries that cMe with it too was delicious and crispy. They had a nice covered seating area where you can enjoy your order. Port a potty was being used for restrooms and it didn't seem to bother me at all. Would love to try the elk burger or the gator burger next time I visit

This little shack off SR 20 just south of Anacortes is a great stop to refuel with a wide selection of great looking seafood sandwiches, burgers, and shrimp. Service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious.

If you're on your way to or from Deception Pass stop at this little gem. Their beer batter is light and crispy and the fries are amazing. The portions are nice as well.

I really wanted to love this place, we stopped here to try the fried shrimp, while in the area on vacation. it just didn't have any seasoning...I poured salt on to add flavor, I think its because they use a tempura batter. Which I am not a huge fan of. We get fresh local shrimp on the East coast all the time, they did tell us that the jumbo shrimp was not local as it was not in season just yet, so I'm sure the shrimp is better tasting when local. Add some old bay to your batter...you will have people flocking to this quaint little shack.

So regards missed the fresh shrimp, make sure come here earlier. They run out their freash caught shrimp quickly. The location is easy to spot from the roadside, there's parking both in the front and the back of the shop. Plenty of dinning table, so it's convenient for having the shrimp right away.

The Shrimp Shake was good but it was pricey and honestly I don't think it was worth the price. Cool little spot though to try out if you are in the area but not something I would say I'm dying to go back to. Definitely give it a try for yourself!

Delicious fried seafood, friendly service. This is one of the very few places where we can enjoy fried food without the negative effects of eating grease. They have their own fishing boat.

Really good fish and enough heat to clear your sinuses. The calamari was in strips and was fantastic. The fries were nice and crispy on the outside and not heavy. Good flavor! All seating is outside and today was beautiful. Recommended.

My fiance & I just ate at The Shrimp Shack for the first time. It was really good, their service is fast & their menu is unique. ..deep fried squid, elk burger, alligator meat.
